The Essence of Healing: Loving Yourself First

The Essence of Healing: Loving Yourself First

Healing is a constant intention of leaning into the essence of who we indeed are. Not who we want to be, but the divine nature of being human and having unique experiences.

When I worked in an office. Healing wasn’t about sunshine and ketosis for me. It was about working hard and getting out of debt. Why? Because that’s what I needed then to get closer to the essence of who I wanted to be and who I knew deep inside, I am.

A kind person who deserved and desired a joyful and abundant life that wasn’t fake. I wanted to be healthy and break free of everything holding me back. I tried to break free of my past, regrets, pain, and conditioning. I wanted to be free from suffering.

Years later, I sit, understanding that the suffering will never disappear. It’s part of the human experience, but being joyful and appreciative can be too, even in tough circumstances.

The best way to heal is to tackle the areas of life you want to be better in. Love, wealth, safety, health? Whatever. For me, it was all of it. I want my cake in this life, and I want to eat it too, so to speak.

I choose to find happy feelings, improve health, build skills and meaningful relationships, despite chronic stress.

The first step is making the choice of what needs to happen first. Right now, that may be safety - as in physical security or a stable income stream to put food on the table. The first step may be better health, like rest and better nutrition, or research like finding a more knowledgeable doctor.

It took me years to heal these areas of my life. I still have work to do, but micro-movements add up. They can shift the outcome of life in significant ways. I’m proof of that.

As long as you keep leaning into the essence of being a better you, as you define it, the more you’ll feel your presence flowing within you. That feeling is love. Self love and it must come first.

Until we all feel the light, Wise Warrior. In love, Rikki
